These unhulled black sesame seeds have a fresh aroma and a sweet, nutty flavour that is a little more robust than white sesame. Delicious and versatile black sesame seeds can be used whole or ground, raw or toasted, in sweet and savoury recipes.


How to Use:

Unhulled black sesame seeds can be used raw or lightly toasted. To toast, place in a dry pan over a low heat, moving constantly for even cooking. Watch carefully while toasting as they burn quickly due to their natural oil. They can be added to smoothies or sprinkled over cereal or yoghurt, salads, stir fries and hotpots. Use as a grain free alternative to ‘crumb’ patties, tempeh, fish and meat; or use these attractive and tasty seeds to top savoury bakes and gratins.

Sesame seeds are also an essential ingredient in the Middle Eastern spice mix zaatar. These gorgeous black seeds will give a new dimension to any recipe – add some to home-made muesli bars, crackers, cookies, muffins and bread mixes.

These unhulled sesame seeds are also delicious in raw food recipes. Grind them to make fresh organic tahini, a scrumptious paste, with a unique, vivid black lustre. Use tahini as a spread or dip, in sauces and salad dressings, baked goods, energy balls and raw food treats.
